October 31- November 6, 2016
Media literacy week is when community citizens--educators, media professionals, youth and youth advocates, health educators, librarians, journalists, academics, researchers, and administrators--participate in workshops, presentations, and other educational programming focusing on ways to promote and sustain media literacy. The week encourages community wide conversations about this important 21st century survival skill.
GMLP's 11th Annual Media Literacy Week will coincide with the National Association for Media Literacy's 2nd National U.S. Media Literacy Week.

As part of the American Society of News Editors’ National Community Roundtables and News Literacy Project and tied to National Media Literacy Week, partners at The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Gateway Media Literacy Partners, St. Louis Community College, the St. Louis Press Club and ASNE have collaborated to build a community discussion about the critical thinking skills in media consumption that underlies being an informed voter and active citizen. Community participants will hear from and engage in a conversation with local print, television, and radio journalists as well as a student journalist and media literacy expert to learn from residents on local information needs, consumption habits and how to strengthen civic engagement through quality information and media literacy skills.
